Computers to the Rescue for Africa

The Computer is one marvellous invention that has not been given a pivotal role in the fight against climate change and for us in Africa Poverty. To us in Africa the climate change we long for is one free of poverty, ignorance and disease.

The power of the computer is magical is we let it, and as a leveller of minds it is unrivalled. The present appalling poverty is without excuse, when the internet is filled with free knowledge of how to get things done better and faster. That is why am pursuaded of the need for an urgent response to this gift. Borrowing from the bible-we live in times that Solomon even would have marvelled at.

There is a great need to change our outlook to devising solutions to age old challenges. Take mathematics for example, there is no scarcity of calculators, suppose learners where from an early age allowed to use the aid of a calculator in handling mathematical challenges. Consider how the chinese developed the abacus for use in mathematics.

The computer age is a great opportunity for Africa to instantly bridge the technological divide with the west and save on scarce resources. A total curriculum review to create a computer based education system would significantly increase the per capita contribution of every individual - between youth and old age.

This too is an environment conservation tool as it wouldbring precision into practice against time.
